Event Materials (Key Required)
Lower Extremity Peripheral Vascular Disease (PAD) is a serious condition that affects millions of people worldwide. PAD is painful, debilitating, and has a huge impact on the patient’s quality of life.
There are so many risks associated with the procedures to do this. Opening the vasculature can be lengthy and fraught with complications using the old techniques to complete them. There has been so much research and the introduction of new technology into the dilemma.
The previous codes did not keep up with the new technology. To answer this, the AMA deleted all previous codes for Endovascular Revascularization, and we have a whole new section with all new codes.
Understanding the need for the new codes allows the coder to reason through their surgery reports. For example, the old code set was based on territory. The new set allows for this and adds access, imaging, and additional services that may be required and if these are bundled or billed separately.
This presentation will break these things down along with the new codes. Keeping in mind, there i9s no crossover, they are new codes and must be treated as new information.
